Gill reveals he wants to win the World Cup for India [Twitter]
Shubman Gill is arguably the next best thing that has occurred to Indian Cricket in recent times. With the ODI World Cup fast approaching, the 24-year-old is looking in red-hot form. Gill endured a stellar run in the recently concluded Asia Cup tournament where he plundered 302 runs in 6 innings at a jaw-dropping average of 75.5.
Prior to the Asia Cup tournament, Gill set the stage on fire by becoming the highest run-scorer in this year’s IPL edition with 890 runs under his belt. Considering the rollicking form that he is in, the Men In Blue will certainly be counting on him to bring his A-game to the fore in the upcoming World Cup edition.
In a conversation with Start Sports, the youngest-double centurion once expressed his strong desire to win the World Cup for his country. He admitted that such a desire was ignited after India’s famous World Cup victory back in 2011.

Gill stressed that he had always aspired to represent India at the global event and is ready to put the hard yards in to lead his national side to glory.
“I was 10 years old when India won the World Cup in 2011. The celebration and emotions moved me so much that I wanted to lift the trophy with the Indian national cricket team. The upcoming edition is in India, and it is my dream to be a part of the squad and lift the trophy for my country.”
Prior to their World Cup campaign, team India will take on Australia in a 3-match ODI series starting on September 22. All eyes will be on young Shubman Gill who promises to be such an exciting prospect to watch out for leading up to the grand World Cup.
