With India being the favourites and having already triumphed over formidable opponents like Australia and Pakistan, Poonam's promise became the talk of the town across social media platforms. 

However, when India did secure the World Cup 2011, Poonam Pandey did not follow through on her bold commitment. She later claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) denied her permission, citing public disapproval.

Although Poonam did not strip as promised, she did manage to stay in the limelight by posting a video of herself stripping at the Wankhede Stadium a few weeks later. 

This incident marked the beginning of Poonam Pandey's notoriety, and she continued to court controversy, making headlines the following year by posing nude to celebrate the victory of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.
