Pakistan player Wasim Akram was renowned not only for his exceptional left-arm swing bowling but also for his skills as a powerful slogger.

Primarily batting at number 8 in white-ball cricket, Akram often contributed crucial late-order runs, adding an extra 20-30 runs that frequently made the difference in defending a score.

Although his career was nearing its end when T20 cricket emerged, Akram did participate in a few T20 matches. Playing for Hampshire, he set a unique and likely unbreakable record by becoming the first player to hit a six in a televised T20 game.

Wasim Akram was the first player to hit a six in a televised T20 game. This historic moment occurred during the Twenty20 Cup in 2003, where Akram played for Hampshire against Sussex.

In an unusual move from his typical ODI role, Akram batted at number 3, scoring 10 runs from 8 balls, with his only boundary being a six.

The bowler who delivered this historic ball was Jason Lewry, who also took Akram's wicket in the same over. Additionally, Akram's bowling performance was also impressive, as he took the wickets of Matt Prior and Murray Goodwin, contributing to Hampshire's victory.

Despite not playing much T20 cricket, Akram's skill set would have made him a standout in the format. He could deliver four quality overs, take crucial wickets in the powerplay and at the death, provide valuable runs with the bat, and offer excellent leadership.
