In a significant move taken by the BCCI, India will have a new T20I captain in Shubman Gill when they tour Zimbabwe for a five-match series in July.

Along with that, there are plenty of big names in the mix, with Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, and Tushar Deshpande, who had impressive IPL 2024, making the cut.

Meanwhile, Nitish Reddy, who won the Emerging Player of the Year after a stupendous IPL 2024 with Sunrisers Hyderabad, has also been added to the squad.

Sanju Samson, part of India’s main squad in the T20 World Cup 2024, was the only player to have won a place on the Zimbabwe tour. Rinku Singh and Khaleel Ahmed, who are part of the reserves, have got places as well.

Kohli, Rohit, Bumrah Rested From ZIM T20Is

Needless to say, the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya, among many others, have been excluded from the squad due to fatigue concerns. They have been constantly playing cricket since IPL 2024, and they desperately need a break from the sport.

Shreyas, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan Snubbed From T20Is

Meanwhile, it is important to mention that the BCCI is likely to move on from Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, and KL Rahul from the T20I setup.

All three were key for their respective franchises in IPL 2024, and it seems like they no longer get a place in the future in this format unless the head coach, which will be appointed after the ongoing T20 World Cup, has anything else in mind.
