Ishan Kishan burst onto the international scene for Team India in early 2021, off the back of a stellar IPL 2020 season for Mumbai Indians. The dashing left-hander minted over 500 runs for his franchise in 14 IPL 2020 games while maintaining an astonishing average of 57.33 and a staggering strike rate of nearly 146.

Kishan also impressed one-and-all in his T20I and ODI debuts, bludgeoning match-winning half-centuries in both formats against England and Sri Lanka. However, the then 23-year-old struggled to extend his purple patch with the bat, as he soon found himself lacking on slow and turning surfaces of UAE during IPL 2021 later in the year.

At one stage of the IPL 2021 season, after enduring yet another failure for Mumbai Indians, Ishan Kishan was spotted being approached and consoled by none other than his senior national teammate and batting veteran Virat Kohli after RCB's emphatic 54-run win in Dubai.

When Virat Kohli consoled struggling Ishan Kishan

Back in September 2021, during a league stage IPL 2021 game between RCB and defending champions Mumbai Indians, Ishan Kishan scored a sluggish nine and failed to take his side past the finishing line at the Dubai International Stadium.

His below-par score summed up his torrid run throughout the tournament, as he finished the IPL 2021 season with just 241 runs from 10 games at an average of 26.77.

After Ishan Kishan failed in Dubai, he was approached by RCB captain Virat Kohli, who was visibly consoling the youngster. Kohli uttered a few words and wrapped his hand around Kishan's shoulder, who looked seemingly emotional at the time.

Ishan Kishan eventually regained his lost touch with the bat a few months later. Moreover, Kishan clobbered a world-record 210 against Bangladesh the following year and shared a match-winning partnership with fellow centurion Virat Kohli in the same game.

The dazzling Jharkhand talent has played two Tests, 27 ODIs and 32 T20Is for India and has tallied nearly 2,000 runs across all formats combined.
