Kieron Pollard’s MI Cape Town Bludgeon Record Total In SA20 2024 vs JSK

MI Cape Town blasted 243-5 off their 20 overs against Joburg Super Kings in match number four of the ongoing SA20 2024 season. The total marks the best-ever batting performance from MI Cape Town in the tournament's history and the second-highest total ever recorded in any SA20 game since its inception last year.


Van der Dussen takes MI Cape Town to record total

After being put into bat first by hosts Joburg Super Kings (JSK) at the high-scoring Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, MI Cape Town amassed a staggering 243-5 off their 20 overs. Openers Rassie van der Dussen and Ryan Rickelton took a couple of overs to settle in before they went berserk against JSK's star-studded line-up.

While Rassie van der Dussen belted nine boundaries and six sixes in his 50-ball 104-run knock, his partner Rickelton missed out on his maiden T20 hundred as Nandre Burger dismissed him for a 49-ball 98. 

Emboldened by their 200-run partnership, Liam Livingstone and captain Kieron Pollard added crucial runs in the death overs to take MI Cape Town to 243-5, their record total in SA20 history, and the second-best batting performance by any team since the inception of the tournament.

Durban’s Super Giants’ 254-run effort against Pretoria Capitals from last year continues to remain the highest-ever total in SA20 history. Off the back of MI Cape Town’s run-fest in Johannesburg, here is a look at an updated list of highest totals recorded in all SA20 matches.

Earlier in the week, MI Cape Town slumped to an 11-run (DLS) defeat to Durban's Super Giants at Durban in their opening SA20 2024 game of the season.

Notably, Kieron Pollard and co. also amassed a 200-run total in the game, with opener Ryan Rickelton top-scoring in the innings through his 51-ball 87.
