All eyes will be on Team India, who will be under immense pressure to perform and lift the coveted title after 2011, when the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2023 starts on October 5 in India. 

For India, captain Rohit Sharma, and former skipper Virat Kohli's form with the bat become highly crucial, around whom the Indian batting revolves.

Several young players will be playing their maiden 50-overs World Cup and will rely on feedback from their ODI greats to deal with the tensions during the 46-day competition.

Wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan, who is making his maiden 50-overs WC appearance, is likely to be utilised as a floater, given his T20 exploits.

Speaking to OneCricket correspondent Vimal Kumar, Ishan, who enjoys a wonderful rapport with both Kohli and Sharma, upon being asked to pick between the two, called the veterans greats.

Having won the 2011 trophy under MS Dhoni, Kohli will be playing his fourth World Cup, while Sharma, who won the inaugural T20 WC in 2007, will be making his third appearance in the quadrennial tournament; and maiden as skipper. 

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old has been in decent form heading into the WC, having scored 409 runs in 15 ODIs, which include four fifties. 

Sharma and Co. will kickstart their World Cup 2023 campaign against five-time champions Australia on October 8 at Chepauk in Chennai. 

All Indian players will hope to get some time in the middle when India takes on the Netherlands in their final warm-up on Tuesday at Thiruvananthapuram.
