Modern-day Indian batting stalwarts MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh scripted numerous match-winning partnerships together for their country. One of their final notable alliances for the ‘Men in Blue’ occurred in January 2017, when they took England to the cleaners in front of a packed Barabati crowd in Cuttack.

Joining each other at the crease at 25-3, both Dhoni and Yuvraj plundered majestic hundreds, with the latter of the two unleashing his career-best ODI score of 150 in the game.

When Yuvraj and Dhoni mauled ENG with final centuries

Facing England in the second ODI of their three-match home series at Cuttack on January 19, 2017; India lost openers KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan both within the first three overs at the hands of Chris Woakes. The English seamer also packed Virat Kohli for 8 as India slumped to 25-3 in 4.4 overs.

Kohli’s dismissal paved an early way for number five MS Dhoni, who joined fellow seasoned campaigner Yuvraj Singh at the crease. The two cricketers led India’s counterattacking response with belligerent stroke-play, with both racing to their hundreds in their monumental 256-run partnership.

Yuvraj whacked a career-best 150 from just 127 balls, and his innings was laced with 21 scorching boundaries and three towering sixes. Dhoni, on the other hand, shaped 134 runs from 122 balls with six sixes and 10 boundaries to his name.

Their colossal stand, coupled with collective backend fury from Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja rushed Team India to 381-6 from 50 overs.

Yuvraj's 150 and Dhoni’s 134 in the game also turned out to be the final centuries of their respective international careers for Team India. Their belligerent partnership turned out to be a match-winning one, with England falling 15 runs short in the run-chase later in the game.
