[Watch] Nicholas Pooran Shares an Emotional Message for Recovering Rishabh Pant

As Rishabh Pant continues to heal from his injuries, the dynamic wicketkeeper-batter has received words of encouragement from his West Indies counterpart Nicholas Pooran.

Last December, Pant was involved in a horrific car crash on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. He sustained a number of serious injuries owing to the accident and was prompted to undergo surgery to fix his damaged knee.

On his road to recovery, the 25-year-old is set to miss months of action, including India’s much-awaited WTC final against Australia in June.


Pooran’s words of motivation for Rishabh Pant

Notably, West Indies star Nicholas Pooran was also involved in a road car accident in January 2015, and sustained knee and ankle injuries. It took him two surgeries and six months of bed rest before walking again, and he eventually made his international debut for the West Indies in 2016.

Currently playing for the Lucknow Super Giants in the ongoing IPL 2023 season, Pooran has revealed that he has been in constant touch with Pant.

He also emphasised the Indian cricketer and provided words of encouragement for him to bounce back from injury. Pooran said:

"Sometimes, I can remember… I have been chatting with Rishabh obviously. Both of us have a really good relationship. But there are times when you go into a place where you're very depressed, and frustrated because you want the healing process to happen so fast. But it's difficult."

"Rishabh (Pant) will come out of this. He's a strong guy. He will come out of this. And he will be better. You just need to believe in yourself; he needs to spend time with yourself and understand who are the people for him and who is against him. This is where you know who is your family and who are your friends."


Despite the injury, Pant can still be seen attending Delhi Capitals IPL 2023 matches from time to time. As the franchise continues to miss his services, David Warner and co. are currently placed at the bottom of the points table owing to their winless run this season.
