Lucknow Super Giants narrowly lost the game to Punjab Kings on Saturday night, but it was a memorable night for their debutant Yudhvir Singh Charak. Opening the attack for LSG, Yudhvir, a fast bowler from Jammu, dismissed Punjab opener and debutant Atharva Taide for a three-ball duck. Yudhvir only conceded one run in his first over, before dismissing Prabhsimran Singh clean bowled for four runs in his next over.

In his first three overs inside the PowerPlay, the 25-year-old registered impressive figures of 2/19.

Yudhvir rattled Prabhsimran Singh's stumps

After bagging a wicket in his first-ever IPL over, Charak showed how virtuous he is. However, his best was yet to come, and it came against PBKS' in-form opener, Prabhsimran Singh.

The right-arm seamer bowled a length delivery from over the wicket again, which beaten the inside edge of the bat as Prabhsimran went for the drive on the up. It tailed in and knocked the timber over as the stumps went cartwheeling.

More about Yudhvir

Born in Jammu, Yudhvir has represented both Jammu and Hyderabad in domestic cricket. He has three wickets in four first-class games, 13 wickets in eight list-A matches, and six wickets in 15 T20s. He was a net bowler for Mumbai Indians in 2020, before being picked up by the franchise for Rs 50 lakh the next year. However, he did not feature in any of the games for the five-time champions. Yudhvir was bought by LSG at his base price of Rs 20 lakh in the December 2022 auction.

Talking about the match, Lucknow scored 159 runs in their 20 overs after choosing to bat first. Skipper KL Rahul scored a half century but without much contribution from the rest of the batters.

Their bowler, however, made great efforts to take the game to the last over, before Punjab went over the line with three balls to spare.
