In a sensational debut for the Lucknow Super Giants, right-arm fast bowler Yudhvir Singh Charak proved his mettle against the Punjab Kings at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday. The 25-year-old from Jammu and Kashmir made a fiery start, snaring two wickets in his first two overs to set the stage for an enthralling IPL encounter.

Yudhvir's first victim was fellow IPL debutant Atharva Taide, who fell for a duck after the bowler induced a leading edge that was caught at deep third. The young pacer then returned to the attack to send back Punjab's Impact Player and opener Prabhsimran for just 4 runs.

Here’s all you need to know about Yudhvir Singh Charak

Hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, Yudhvir has played a handful of matches in the domestic circuit, with 4 First-class games (4 wickets), 8 List A matches (13 wickets), and 14 T20 games (4 wickets) to his credit. Despite his limited exposure, he has shown promise and potential to become a future star for his team.

The IPL debutant was earlier purchased by Mumbai Indians in the 2021 IPL auction at his base price of INR 50 lakh, owing to his impressive performances as a net bowler for the team in the previous season. However, he did not get a chance to feature in any games for the franchise.

Yudhvir's talent did not go unnoticed, and he was picked up by Lucknow Super Giants at his base price of INR 20 lakh in the December 2022 auction. His impressive showing on debut has made him an instant sensation, and fans will be eagerly looking forward to his future performances.

The promising youngster's debut comes at a time when Jammu and Kashmir is seeing a rise in young talent, with Umran Malik, another fast bowler from the state, currently part of the Indian team and in contention for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in 2023.

With many more games to come, fans can expect to see more of the young fast bowler as he looks to cement his place in the Lucknow Super Giants line-up.
