Jammu paceman Yudhvir Singh Charak started off his Indian Premier League career with two big wickets against Punjab Kings on Saturday. On debut, Charak began the proceedings for Lucknow Super Giants, and his maiden game couldn't have been better for the right-arm seamer. He first dismantled Punjab's debutant Atharva Taide in his first-ever IPL over, before making Prabhsimran Singh's off-stump cartwheeling.

The 25-year-old has become the fifth player from Jammu to play in the IPL after Parvez Rasool, Rasikh Salam, Abdul Samad and Umran Malik.

Charak bowled beautifully with the new ball on a double-paced track, pitching the ball in the right areas and letting seam movement get the better of the two PBKS openers.

His first wicket was a short of a length that bounced a tad extra off the deck, but Taide got outclassed while cutting the ball and handed an easy grab to the third man. He followed up with a dream ball to Prabhsimran in the subsequent over. The batter tried driving a fullish delivery, but it seamed into the right-hander, and the furniture stirred for a toss.

Before joining LSG, Charak was part of the Mumbai Indians squad during the 2021 season.

Earlier in the match, Lucknow posted a considerable score of 159-8 on a tricky pitch, thanks to a fighting knock of KL Rahul.

At the time of writing, Punjab are grinding hard in the middle after losing three wickets early in the innings. They are at 68-3 midway through their innings, with Harpreet Bhatia and Sikandar Raza at the crease.
