Virat Kohli listed a 34-ball 50 against Delhi Capitals in match number 20 of the ongoing IPL 2023 season. His innings powered the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to a commendable 174-6 upfront, a total which proved too much for the Capitals in front of a packed M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The innings marked Kohli’s 52nd fifty-plus score in IPL, and his 93rd overall across competitive T20 cricket. His match-winning effort also continues his golden run with the bat in limited-overs cricket, as he struck his third half-century of the season and his second in succession.

The former RCB captain, who already has several batting records to his name, has now added another landmark to his illustrious tally.

Kohli strengthens supremacy at RCB’s home

Kohli, who has been part of the RCB since the inaugural edition of the IPL, has played 227 matches for the franchise. Notably, he has played over 80 of those games at RCB’s home ground, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Also representing the Indian team at an international level, Kohli has played a total of 92 T20 matches at the venue.

With his latest batting effort against the Capitals, the legendary cricketer has now registered 25 scores of 50 or more, thus becoming the first player in T20 history to achieve the landmark at a single stadium. He overcame Alex Hales’ haul of 24 fifty-plus scores at Trent Bridge from 90 games.

England’s Jason Roy and Bangladesh’ Tamim Iqbal are joint-third on the list, as they have piled up 21 fifty-plus knocks at The Oval and Dhaka respectively. David Warner is fifth on the all-time record, for his record run in Hyderabad with 19 fifty-plus scores.

Kohli will now turn up for the RCB in their next game of the season, against the CSK on April 17. The upcoming fixture will also be played in Bengaluru.
