Virat Kohli after his masterful innings against Australia in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy breaking his 1,205 days jinx in Test cricket, made some remarks after the game.

The Indian stalwart who was also declared as the player of the match for his 186 revealed that he wasn't feeling at his best during the lean phase that lasted for about two and half years. His knock helped the home side to save the Test and win the series by a margin of 2-1.

The right-hander revealed that he felt that his tempo wasn't similar to what it was during the previous 10 years of his career. Further, the veteran remarked that he was able to put up some performances but not effectively.

However, the 34-year-old was satisfied with how he played and is not at a stage to prove anyone anything.

"Ah, to be honest, the expectations I myself have as a player, they are more important for me. I feel I was not able to play with the tempo I batted for the last 10 years. But I was able to put some impactful performances and tried to bat as long as possible for the team. I did it for the team on various occasions but was not able to bat according to my capabilities.

"Yes, I was satisfied with this knock. I could play the way I wanted to play. I was patient with it. I was very happy with the defense and the tempo I was playing with. I am not at that stage where I necessarily need to go out and prove myself. I was happy to do my job for the team and I am happy to do it."

India and Australia will now engage in a three-match ODI series beginning on 17th of March.
