On Sunday, at Cape Town, Jemimah Rodrigues played the innings of her life against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Women's T20 World Cup 2023, helping India chase down 150 runs from being in a tough state with her 53* off just 38 deliveries.

After the INDO-PAK clash, Rodrigues was emotional during the post-match interview and presser.

The Indian batter was left out of the Indian squad for the 50-over World Cup of 2022, and she said she wasn't in a good headspace when she was dropped.

"I think this time last year when I was at home and I was not in a good headspace because I was dropped from (India's) 50-over World Cup squad. That was the toughest time for me, but there was so many people who helped me throughout this time," the Indian batter commented.

The 22-year-old batter dedicated her knock against Pakistan to her parents and thanked them as she spoke about the darkest phase of her life.

"Honestly, many times I had nothing to tell myself. There were so many times I had given up (on cricket), you know I didn't have the strength to carry (on) and I know a lot of people say you need to back yourself you need to motivate yourself but when a person is going through, they only know what they're going through," she added.

"I was blessed that I had people who believed in me and helped me push through that time so I am just grateful to them. It felt like that was that was one of the lowest phase of my life but it turned out to be the reason why I could come here today."

During the ongoing auction for the inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023, the Mumbai-born was bought by Delhi Capitals for a whopping price tag of INR 2.2 crores.

In the ICC event, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led force will battle against West Indies at the Newlands Stadium, Cape Town, on Wednesday (February 15).
