Richa Ghosh set the cash registers ringing at the auction event of the first ever Women’s Indian Premier League, also known as WPL. The cricketer was roped in by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise for a staggering amount of ₹1.90 crore, thus making her one of the costliest commodities at the auction.

After her WPL windfall, the 19-year-old expressed her desire of helping out her parents and also stated her big ambitions for Indian cricket.

After stacking up big bucks at the auction, Ghosh stated that she now wants to help her parents settle down in Kolkata by buying them a flat. The dashing wicketkeeper-batter attributed her success to her “hardworking” parents who have struggled a lot in their lives.

The youngster also claimed that her dream is to lead and win a major trophy for India. She said:

“All my parents wanted me to achieve was to play for India. I want to captain my team and win a major trophy for India. I want to buy a flat in Kolkata. I want my mother and father to settle down there. I want them to enjoy their life now. They have struggled a lot in their life, and they have worked hard a lot for me. Even now, my father does umpire. After the auction, I hope he doesn't have to work so hard.”

Notably, Richa’s big payday arrived a day after her match-winning heroics against Pakistan at the Women’s T20 World Cup in Cape Town. The right-handed batter came up clutch in a crunch run-chase by whacking 31* tense runs in the death overs.

Currently in South Africa for the global tournament, her subsequent assignment includes the commencement of her WPL journey with RCB, where she would be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Smriti Mandhana and Ellyse Perry.
