T20 World Cup 2022: Gurbaz cleared of fracture after Shaheen Afridi's toe crushing yorker

In Afghanistan's warm up match against Pakistan, wicket-keeper batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz was delivered with a toe-crushing yorker by Shaheen Shah Afridi. He was struck on the left-foot by the inswinging delivery. 

The batter was carried off of the pitch as he looked visibly in pain. Later, he was observed wearing a protective gear on his leg. Right after the match, Gurbaz was sent to the hospital for scans and the prevention of any further injury.

"Team doctor stated that the results are clear with no bone fracture, He will be assessed in the next two days and is expected to be available for our England fixture on Saturday."


The 20-year old has been ruled of any bone fracture and has been declared fit for the T20 opener against England. 

As far as the game goes Afghanistan scored a 154 run total. The delivery also resulted in Gurbaz being LBW as he returned to the pavilion on a duck. Teammate Mohammad Nabi scored a 51 in the game the eventually resulted in a wash-out due to persistent rains.
