During the fixture against Gujarat Giants (GT), Suryakumar Yadav was in explosive form as he registered his maiden IPL ton to power his side to a record victory against a dominant bowling opposition. Following their win during that match, MI were able to better their NRR and give themselves a fighting chance to make it to the playoffs.
During that match, Yadav raised a few eyebrows by playing an innovative shot down to third man region which went all the way for a maximum. That shot went viral during the match and has been doing the rounds on social media ever since.
During his scintillating knock, he played a wide range of shots and scored all around the park. But no shot was as gutsy as the one that he played were he guided a pacey delivery over third man fielder for a six and made it look very effortless.
Speaking to JioCinema, Yadav further expressed that he had played this shot a number of times against Shami and decoded his ploy well before he executed this shot.
"I have played that shot many times in my mind already. I always try to play the field. At that moment, the ball was wet and they had little options in hand… I knew that they would go for that yorker length and I was ready for that because I have played against him before. I have actually played this shot before as well, but not that fine. It went towards the point region."
Surya's current form with the bat is absolutely crucial for Mumbai’s chances of making it to the playoffs. His magic with the blade has instilled a new sense of hope in the Mumbai camp as they find themselves in a very good position to enter they playoffs stage. They will face a depleted SRH side in their next encounter on May 21.
