Shubman Gill has been in scintillating form in IPL 2023 and is leading the run-scoring charts with three hundreds in the season. Now, in the final of IPL 2023, he has crossed another significant landmark by crossing Jos Buttler's run tally of 863 which the Englishman scored in the 2022 season.

Gill had 851 runs at the start of the IPL 2023 and needed just 13 runs to cross Buttler's tally which he achieved in the fourth over of the game by a fantastic flick off the bowling of Tushar Deshpande. Virat Kohli, on the other hand, holds the record for the most runs in an IPL season with 973 runs and at the start of the IPL final, Gill needed 123 runs to go past Kohli and create history.

If he does go past Kohli, it would be Gill's fourth century this season and it will put GT right on top in the final against MS Dhoni and his boys. At the time of writing, GT have scored 49 at the end of 5 overs with Gill batting on 24 and Saha batting on 25.

However, CSK have a good bowling attack with quality spinners, and MS Dhoni, with his shrewd captaincy, may find a way to get the better of Gill. GT, though, have gotten off to a good start, and they too have the firepower to build on this start and post a big total.
