Sensational opener, Shubman Gill expressed his sentiment that although winning the Orange Cap is remarkable, he still believes there is unfinished business following his exceptional performance in the IPL 2023. This season has been Gill's most impressive with the bat in his IPL career, as he amassed 851 runs in 16 matches, boasting an astonishing average of 60.79.

Notably, he scored three centuries in the last four games, including a magnificent 129 off just 60 balls against MI, propelling GT to victory and securing their place in the IPL 2023 final.

Gill is poised to claim the Orange Cap for this season, with contenders like Devon Conway from CSK (625 runs) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (564 runs), who will participate in the final, trailing behind by a considerable margin.

During an interview with News 18, he acknowledged that winning the Orange Cap is a tremendous accomplishment, but he continues to sense that more work must be done and explained that whenever he performs well, the following morning, he wakes up feeling that there are further challenges to conquer.

Reflecting on his journey thus far, Gill stated that it had been an outstanding year for him, and he feels genuinely fortunate and content with his achievements.

“It’s been great, and very fortunate, I thank the universe. But every time, like today, I have this feeling that the job is not done yet. Every time I perform and do well, the next morning, I have this feeling that the job is not done yet. Once IPL finishes, World Test Championship start. Once WTC is over, Asia Cup will be there. Once Asia Cup is over, you’ll be like ‘Oh, the World Cup is here’. So there is always something in my mind that I look forward to and (feel) the job is not done yet. But it’s been a great year so far for me and I’m really fortunate and really happy for that," said the 23-year old.
