Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar came to the aid of Babar Azam's men as the side got hammered by England by five wickets in the T20 World Cup 2022 final.

Pakistan were pushed to the wall by England bowlers as they recorded a total of 137 runs. While it was supposed to be child's play for the Englishmen, the chase was not at all trouble-free with the Men in Green making a match out of the paltry score.

However, despite giving their all, Pakistan were defeated in the summit clash as Ben Stokes' maiden T20I half-century helped England cross the line.

Praising Pakistan for their efforts, Akhtar got behind the team. He even backed them to win the 2023 ODI World Cup scheduled in India.

Here is what Akhtar said on his YouTube channel

"Pakistan lost the world cup but you guys did a great job. You were standing nowhere but ultimately; you played the finals. Well done Pakistan’s bowling attack. You guys did an exceptional job throughout the tournament. Luck was indeed a factor but they played well and made it to the finals,

"I’m standing with you and nothing to worry about. You guys really played well. It’s hurting, I’m disappointed, but it’s fine. We gonna stand by you as a nation. If almighty wills it, we shall lift the World Cup in India."

For England, their white-ball revolution has come a full-circle. After the shambles of 2015 and 2016, they have become the first team to hold the ODI and T20 World Cups simultaneously.
