It was a monumental Saturday night for the Hobart Hurricanes captain Elyse Villani, who surpassed the 3000-run mark in her Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) career.
Sitting shy of seven runs from the feat, Villani headed to the match versus the Brisbane Heat. As the 33-year-old came to bat with the score reading 61/3, she went about her business harmlessly with a double off Jess Jonassen taking her to the other side of the landmark.
Villani now enjoys the company of Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry and Sophie Devine, who are the other three batters with an overall run-tally of 3000-plus runs in their respective WBBL careers.
Here's the list of players having more than 3000 WBBL runs
- Beth Mooney - 4030 runs (114 matches)
- Ellyse Perry - 3587 runs (106 matches)
- Sophie Devine - 3201 runs (103 matches)
- Elyse Villani - 3019 runs (109 matches)
Villani debuted in the WBBL for Perth Scorchers. Following her stint with Perth, she joined Melbourne Stars and then made a switch to the Hurricanes ahead of the 2022 season.
In her leadership, Hobart Hurricanes have won six of their 10 games in the ongoing edition and are currently placed third on the points table.
