On Sunday, England clinched the T20 World Cup trophy, handing Pakistan a five-wicket defeat in the final in Melbourne. Batting first, Pakistan crawled their way to a paltry 137, which England chased successfully, courtesy of Ben Stokes' masterclass.

In the post-match presentation, Pakistan captain Babar Azam blamed timid batting for Pakistan's defeat in this all-important clash. Babar, who managed a sloth-paced 28-ball 32, credited England for their clinical performance.

However, the stylish opener lauded his bowlers for making a match out of such a sub-par total. He also opined that the game's result would've been different had Shaheen Afridi not developed the injury during England innings.

Here's what Babar stated

"Congratulations to England team. They are the champions and played so well. I would like to thank the audience for coming and supporting us wherever we play. Yeah definitely, we fell 20 runs short but our boys were good with the ball,

"Of course, our bowling is one of the bests in the world. The way we started in the powerplay was good, but then Shaheen's injury else the results could have been a little different."

Babar had an ordinary tournament with the bat, scoring only 124 runs at a dismal average of 17.71 and a mediocre strike rate of 93.23. He will aim at a redemption when Pakistan play a three-match Test series against England next month.
