Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar could find himself working with the national side as a bowling consultant if reports are to be believed.

As per THE NEWS, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants to utilize the expertise of Akhtar, known for his tearaway bowling.

Sources mentioned that the 47-year-old has already been contacted and is interested in taking the role.

With Pakistan struggling in the pace bowling department, Akhtar's inclusion could help them immensely.

PCB Chairman Najam Sethi and Akhtar will likely meet in Lahore sometime soon. Akhtar has also shown interest in being part of the policy-making process within the board.

Since his retirement in 2011, Akhtar has spoken about his ambitions to work with the Pakistan cricket team.

The Rawalpindi Express played 46 Tests, 163 ODIs, and 15 T20Is for Pakistan, claiming 444 wickets.

There are also reports of Akhtar being considered for the role of the chief selector after former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi's appointment came to an end.

Former Australian pacer Shaun Tait worked with Pakistan's national side as a bowling coach until their recently concluded New Zealand series.
