Shaheen Afridi Came Up With A Heartwarming Gift For Jasprit Bumrah's Son

Team India’s high-octane rivalry with Pakistan has produced numerous remarkable showdowns in recent years, particularly in major ICC events like the T20 and ODI World Cups. The intense competition often arises from the ongoing geopolitical tensions between the two nations, with fans from both sides frequently using cricket as a means to channel their emotions and express their national pride.

Amidst the enmity shared by Indian and Pakistan cricket fans towards one another, the cricketers from both camps seem to be on good terms with each other.

Back in September 2023 during the ODI Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, Pakistan paceman Shaheen Afridi demonstrated this goodwill by handing out a lavish gift basket to Indian quick Jasprit Bumrah.

When Jasprit Bumrah received a special gift from Shaheen

During the 2023 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah had to leave midway from the tournament to attend the birth of his newborn child with wife and prominent sports presenter Sanjana Ganesan. Pakistan speedster Shaheen Afridi, as a gesture of goodwill, handed out a departing Bumrah a lavish gift basket on becoming a new parent.

A few months later in the UAE, Sanjana Ganesan recalled memories of Shaheen’s friendly gesture and claimed that her son Angad still uses some of the gifts handed out by the Pakistani cricketer. While appearing on the The Grade Cricketer’s YouTube channel, she said:

“Shaheen actually gave us a lovely gift basket during the Asia Cup, it wasn't just one gift, there was a bunch of stuff in there for Angad that he still uses.”

Jasprit Bumrah is currently in the midst of facing Bangladesh in a two-match Test series for Team India at home. Shaheen Afridi, on the other hand, is playing the 2024 Pakistan Champions One-Day Cup for the Lions team.
