The Trinbago Knight Riders and the Guyana Amazon Warriors are up against each other in the 19th match of the CPL 2024. This match is being played at the Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Kieron Pollard, the captain of the Knight Riders, won the toss and put the Guyana Amazon Warriors into bat. Notably, this is the first of the Knight Riders at their home venue in CPL 2024.
The bowlers responded brilliantly for their captain, picking up early wickets and putting the Warriors on the back foot. The batters struggled to get going, and the fall of regular wickets never really allowed them to gain any sort of momentum in the innings.
The crowd lit up with Bravo's show
Tim Robinson, the Warriors' opener, was the only batter who showed some resilience. After they lost the wickets of Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer, the onus was on Robinson to guide them towards a formidable total. However, in the ninth over, Robinson's stay in the middle was cut short by Waqar Salamkheil when the batter was batting at 34 off 27.
Dwayne Bravo's wonderful catch at slip resulted in the wicket. Bravo's contribution, however, did not stop there. He followed it up with the wicket of Keemo Paul in the next over. It was a good-length delivery that moved in a tad to beat Paul's defence and shatter into the stumps, sending Paul back to the hut.
Immediately after Paul's wicket, Bravo celebrated in his trademark style with the 'Champion Dance'. Notably, this is Bravo's last CPL season, and hence, the crowd also paid tribute to their hero by joining in with his celebration. Even during Bravo's earlier catch, the whole crowd went mad with joy.
