The much-anticipated encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants has shown potential of a high-scoring affair, thanks to a dream start by the former team. After being put into bat first, RCB got off to a dream start, courtesy of a Virat Kohli masterclass on a batting-friendly M Chinnaswamy deck.

LSG skipper KL Rahul won the toss and opted to chase, as the ground has been favourable for the teams batting second. However, his decision backfired on the Super Giants badly, as soon as RCB openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis entered the ground.

While skipper Du Plessis struggled to middle most of the deliveries, Kohli looked in sublime touch, as he toyed with the LSG bowling unit to compose a stunning half century.

Fondly regarded as the King, Kohli adopted an aggressive approach right from the word go, as he seemed determined to ensure a blistering start for his side. After safely negotiating the first over, the batting maestro hammered Avesh Khan for 10 runs.

After getting the start, the Indian talisman took all LSG bowlers to the cleaners to complete a flamboyant fifty in just 35 deliveries. He didn't spare even LSG's trump card Mark Wood, whom he smashed for consecutive boundaries in the sixth over.

Such destructive batting from Kohli stunned the visitors, providing RCB with an ideal start to their innings. As of writing, the hosts are 94 for no loss in 11 overs, with Kohli and Du Plessis batting on 60* and 30*, respectively.
