IPL 2023: Tushar Deshpande Dismisses 'Viral Quote' On Rohit Sharma

Chennai Super Kings pacer Tushar Deshpande took to his Instagram account on Monday to expose some fake social media posts, where a controversial quote regarding India and Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma was attributed to him.

Deshpande knocked over a struggling Rohit Sharma with a peach of a delivery in the recent fixture between the Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

He returned to dismiss the dangerous Tim David to put further breaks on MI's scoring and eventually finished with figures of 2/31 in 3 overs.

Following his brilliant outing against MI, a fake quote, where Tushar seemed to have suggested that taking Rohit's wicket is not a huge deal as he is not a Virat or an AB, started going viral on social media.

Here's the quote:

"Taking Rohit Sharma’s wicket is so easy. He is not someone like Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers."

However, on Monday, Deshpande took to his official Instagram account to post a collage of such stories that have been doing the around on various news agency accounts, stating that its "Fake News", and that he'd never make such demeaning statements against the legends of the game.

"I have absolute respect for all the legends mentioned above. I did not, would not make any such demeaning statements. stop spreading fake news (sic)”.

Meanwhile, the Chennai Super Kings pulled off a commanding victory at MI's fortress 'Wankhede' last week thanks to an all-round bowling performance, and a blistering 19-ball half-century from Ajinkya Rahane.

Both these sides will again face each other at the Chepauk on May 06.
