In a remarkable turn of events, experienced leg spinner Rashid Khan has become the first-ever player from Afghanistan to feature in 100 IPL matches. Khan, who represents Gujarat Titans, is playing his 100th IPL match in his side's ongoing group-stage fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Rashid Khan's IPL career and stats

After grabbing a million eyeballs through some spectacular performances in international level, Rashid Khan made his IPL debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2017 season. He has an impressive debut year in the lucrative tournament, scalping 17 wickets in 14 outings at a surreal economy of 6.63.

Gradually, Khan went on to establish himself as a force to reckon with the ball for SRH, emerging as the then-skipper David Warner's go-to man in the middle overs.

However, his demand to stay as the first retention resulted in his feud with SRH, following which he was released by the franchise before eventually being picked up by Gujarat Titans in the 2022 mega auction.

Overall, Khan has 126 wickets to his name in 99 innings at an outstanding economy of 6.5.

KKR vs GT: Match update

Meanwhile, after being put into bat, KKR are under the pump, placed at 96 for four in 11.4 overs. However, fortunately for the home side, Rahmanullah Gurbaz is still out there. As he is well-set on 60*, the keeper-batter from Afghanistan should bat through to ensure a fitting finish for his side.

Speaking of Rashid Khan, the spin wizard is yet to take a wicket in his 100th game, conceding 13 runs in two overs.
