Gujarat Titans flogged the Mumbai Indians by 55 runs to register their second successive win this IPL 2023 season. With their recent effort, the defending champions have now jumped to number two on the points table, securing five wins out of seven fixtures.

Young Titans batter Abhinav Manohar was one of the headline acts of their big win, as the right-hander whacked a 22-ball 42 during the finishing stages of the innings. The cricketer formed an explosive 71-run stand with David Miller, a partnership that pushed Titans total past the 200-run mark.

In a contest that featured sublime batting acts from Shubman Gill, Miller and Rahul Tewatia, and also some dazzling bowling spells from Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad, it was young Manohar who was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for his efforts.

Abhinav Manohar says players given freedom by management

After the match, Manohar said that he feels lucky to be associated with the Gujarat Titans franchise, and praised the team management for granting freedom to players in their training sessions.

The Karnataka-based player summed up his match-winning knock against Mumbai Indians by saying that it was good to his eye-in before unleashing his stroke-play. He said:

“I think I am lucky to be in this franchise. In the net sessions we are given the freedom to bat as much as we want. I think I have been gifted to time the ball well and I've been doing it from a young age and to do it at this level it feels special, it feels like a dream. In this game I couldn't go from ball one due to the situation but it was good to get my eye in and play my game."

Manohar is now set to turn up for the Hardik Pandya-led side in their subsequent fixture, i.e., an away game against the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 29.
