Australian pacer Scott Boland, who played his first Test away from home in Nagpur last week, has said that he wants to play the upcoming Delhi Test and make the job harder for the tour selection committee.
Boland featured in the first Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy after pacer Josh Hazlewood was ruled out due to a late injury. With Mitchell Starc's arrival, Boland faces tough competition to keep his place, something the Victorian-born is mindful of.
As per The West Australian, the 33-year-old said that he wants to play the Delhi Test and that the team management will once again opt for two fast bowlers.
Here's what Boland said
"Obviously I want to play. I enjoyed the challenge of bowling in these different conditions. I've just got to make the selectors' job as hard as I can to bring someone in. I don't think we're going to play three fast bowlers. There's only going to be two spots up for grabs I reckon."
Boland, despite remaining wicketless, was Australia's most economical bowler in Nagpur, giving away just 34 runs in 17 overs. The visitors lost the match by an innings and 132 runs, handing the hosts a 1-0 lead.
Coach Andrew McDonald has indicated that left-arm spinner Matt Kuhnemann could play in the upcoming Test, ahead of Ashton Agar.
However, the coach made it clear that Kuhnemann's inclusion will only happen if Cameron Green is available.
