An extraordinary batting masterclass from Jemimah Rodrigues helped India gain their first win in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023.

Needing 150 against arch-rivals Pakistan, Rodrigues displayed immaculate game sense and perfected the art of chasing, all while scoring an unbeaten 53*.

In the post-match presentation, the young batter said that she knew if she and Richa Ghosh took the match deep, they would be able to win. Both added 58 runs for the fourth wicket.

Here's what Rodrigues said

"I don’t know what to say. I knew building partnerships, taking it deep we’d end up chasing. Richa and I have built a partnership against Bangladesh, and we could do this today. This innings is really special to me, I haven’t been getting runs for a while but I’ve stuck to the processes."

She further dedicated her player of the match award to her parents, who were present at the stadium, and also said that this win would give India much-needed momentum going forward.

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side will meet the former T20 WC champions West Indies on Wednesday.
