South African pacer Dane Paterson has signed a new contract with Nottinghamshire which will keep him intact with the club until the end of the 2024 season.

Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club on Monday (October 3) confirmed that Paterson has committed to Nottinghamshire for a further two seasons following a stellar 2022 campaign.

The 33-year-old South African seamer has claimed 145 wickets across formats over the course of the past two summers.

This year Dane spearheaded the Notts attack and scalped 75 all-format wickets during the course of the summer, twelve Royal One-day Cup Wickets, seven T20 Blast wickets, and fifty-six County Championship wickets.

In his impressive red-ball spell with the club, he took 56 wickets with the red ball this year at an impressive average of 22.35, with a strike rate of a wicket every 43 balls. Against Worcestershire at Trent Bridge, the ex-South African international claimed career-best figures of 8-52 as Notts won promotion by finishing top of County Championship Division Two.

What Dane Patterson said on his joining

“I have loved every minute of my time at Nottinghamshire since arriving last year, and I'm glad to have been able to put in good performances for the team. I’m excited to return next year and continue on this journey together. We have got the ingredients to carry on being successful, so I am optimistic about what next summer may bring."

Paterson, who has played two Tests, four ODIs, and eight T20Is for South Africa between 2017 and 2020, won Nottinghamshire’s County Championship Player of the Season award.

What Head Coach Peter Moores said

“Dane (Paterson) has proved hugely popular with his fellow players, as well as with members and supporters, and that's because of the way he carries himself and wears his heart on his sleeve."
