KL Rahul has been the mast of headlines recently with rumours of a possible KKR shift ahead of the IPL (Indian Premier League) mini auction for the 2026 season. While the India veteran currently wears the Delhi Capitals jersey, recent reports strongly suggest his days are over for his 2025 team.

In the wake of a possible shift to KKR for their demand of a long time captain who can keep and bat, KL Rahul's one-year-old post, congratulating the Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise, resurfaced, collecting the buzz that implies his will to move into the purple franchise.

After KKR secured a comfortable win against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 26, 2024, to bag their third IPL trophy, KL Rahul, who was the then LSG captain, shared a congratulatory post for the win.

KL Rahul took to his Instagram handle to share a story of Shreyas Iyer and the squad lifting the IPL trophy with a heartfelt caption that read, "A team that was consistent throughout the competition. A team that played an exciting brand of cricket. A team that deserved to win this season. Many congratulations @kkriders."

Rahul's old post gains fresh significance

Though Rahul seemed genuinely delighted with KKR’s IPL 2024 triumph, his own side endured a disappointing season. His team finished seventh on the points table, losing both matches against KKR that year. With just 14 points, they failed to qualify for the playoffs, and Rahul’s congratulatory post for KKR was somehow dismissed at the time as a mere formality.

However, as trade rumours continue to swirl ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction, that old post has gained fresh significance. Reports suggest KL Rahul is eager to leave Delhi Capitals after just one season, where he scored 539 runs at an average of 53.90 in 13 innings under Axar Patel’s captaincy.
