In a massive development, Bangladesh's assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin is going to step down from his position after Ireland's tour of Bangladesh in November.

Salahuddin decided to step down for personal reasons after joining the BCB on November 5. It is important to note that he had an agreement till the 2027 World Cup, but decided to quit two years ahead of his complete term.

Salahuddin confirms exit after Ireland series

Though not much has been disclosed about Salahuddin's exit, as per a report from Cricbuzz, Salahuddin has sent a resignation letter to the board, stating that he is not enjoying his role. "Yes, I am resigning," Salahuddin confirmed on his resignation to Cricbuzz on Tuesday without much elaboration.

Mohammad Salahuddin joined the international side as a fielding coach in 2005 until he left in 2010 to work in Malaysia as a university team coach. He had stints with Comilla Victorians in the BPL and led them to victory in the 2015-16 Bangladesh Premier League.

He was a well-known name in BPL franchises for his coaching stints, and in November 2024, he was selected as the senior assistant coach of the Bangladesh team, with not many successes coming his way during his tenure for the national team.

Salahuddin faced scrutiny after poor stint

Salahuddin was on the receiving end due to the poor performance of the team recently. He was in charge of the batting unit for Bangladesh ever since David Hemp parted ways with the BCB. This move led the BCB to appoint Mohammad Ashraful as the batting coach of the national team for the upcoming Ireland series.

The Ireland team will play two Test matches and a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, and the Paul Stirling-led team will arrive on November 6. The opening Test is scheduled from November 11, while the three-match T20I series will conclude on December 2.
