KL Rahul and Sanju Samson - (Source: AFP)
In a significant development, there are reports that KL Rahul's potential trade from Delhi Capitals to Kolkata Knight Riders is off the table. Notably, in the last few days, rumour mills suggested that the star India keeper-batter was all set to head to the three-time winners for IPL 2026.
According to a report from Cricbuzz, two massive developments have taken place. Firstly, KL Rahul's trade to KKR from DC is off because of Knight Riders' unwillingness to let off any of their star players to fit in Rahul.
"KKR are in the lookout for a captain who can keep and bat. Sanju Samson and KL Rahul fit the profile, but KKR are unwilling to part with any of its premium assets. In that context, Rahul is unlikely to move to KKR, even if RR and DC pull off the Samson trade," read a cricbuzz report.
GT refuse to entertain CSK's demand
Besides KL Rahul, there was also a rumour that the Chennai Super Kings are looking to bring in Washington Sundar in place of R Ashwin, who announced his retirement after IPL 2025. CSK are looking for a lower middle-order all-rounder who can bowl spin, and Sundar fits the bill.
However, the cricbuzz report cleared the air and stated that GT head coach Ashish Nehra has refused to entertain such rumours. and has put Sundar out of the trade market and communicated the same to Chennai Super Kings ahead of IPL 2026.
Sanju Samson inches closer to RR exit
Although the report clearly suggested that KL Rahul's move to KKR is off, Samson's RR exit is nearing. Samson wants to leave Rajasthan, and the Delhi Capitals are looking to bring in the star India keeper, but there is no clarity on who they will release, because they are under no such pressure.
The reports come after a few publications remarked that DC are looking to trade Tristan Stubbs to RR to bring in Sanju Samson.
