Indian pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, who is currently sidelined from the team due to an injury, extended his heartfelt tribute to footballing legend, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, in the wake of the Swedish striker's retirement announcement.

The right-arm quick took to Twitter and expressed his gratitude as he thanked Ibrahimovic for being a continuous source of inspiration for him and propelling him towards achieving excellence as a sportsman. The heartfelt tribute from Bumrah serves as a testament to Ibrahimovic's far-reaching impact and influence on athletes across various disciplines.

"For being a constant source of inspiration for me and helping me discover that lion-hearted never-back-down attitude, thank you. You've made outstanding memories through your time in the game that'll live on," wrote the Indian pace spearhead.


Ibrahimovic bid an emotional farewell to the football world after his club AC Milan’s final match of the 2022-23 season, announcing his retirement in a poignant speech that left fans and fellow athletes touched. The Swedish maestro announced, "The time has come to say goodbye to football," as reported by Sky Sports.

The footballing stalwart's illustrious career boasts an awe-inspiring record of 511 goals in 866 club appearances, along with an additional 62 goals in 122 international fixtures for his country. Having graced the ranks of prominent clubs like Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, the revered forward made a limited four appearances this season.

Meanwhile, Bumrah's recent journey has been beset by adversity, grappling with a persistent back injury that has sidelined him for the last eight to nine months. The 29-year-old underwent successful surgery on his lower back in New Zealand during March.

The recovery process caused him to miss the highly anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, and unfortunately, Bumrah is also set to miss the upcoming World Test Championship Final against Australia, scheduled to commence on Wednesday, at The Oval in London.
