Cricket since the pandemic has not been the same for players. Many cricketers, male and female, have come out and openly spoken about the effect the game has on mental health these days, with some opting to take short breaks while few opting to bid adieu to the game altogether.

Leading Australian women's cricketers Meg Lanning and Rachael Haynes, recent decisions have weighed heavily on wicketkeeper batter Alyssa Healy. Lanning, one of the most successful captains in the sport, continues to extend her personal break, while Haynes announced her sudden retirement in September.

According to the west Australian, Healy is currently contemplating her future in cricket. Healy made her Australian debut in 2010 and has since established herself as one of the best in world cricket.

"Meg taking a break and Rach retiring, it hit me like a tonne of bricks. It made me sit back and think about what I've been doing and what it looks like for me.

The beauty is I still really love the game and love being involved at the moment. I'm just going to just keep plugging along and doing what I'm doing and continue to enjoy it."

The 32-year-old also spoke about how her husband and current Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc stopped her from taking retirement multiple times.

She is most likely to lead Australia during their India tour in December if Lanning remains unavailable.
