The Delhi Capitals DC) finally managed to put up a win on the board in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, beating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by four wickets. In a low-scoring encounter yesterday evening, the Delhi batters almost made a mess of the chase, needing 128 to win.

Skipper David Warner was once again the stand-out batter for DC, scoring 57 off 41, which included as many as 11 boundaries, while Manish Pandey and Axar Patel contributed 21 and 19*, respectively.

The main concern for DC this season has been the lack of runs from their Indian domestic recruits, namely Prithvi Shaw, Sarfaraz Khan, and Yash Dhull, who have been exposed against fast bowling.

Speaking in the post-match conference, Warner motivated his young local batters to find ways to score runs and develop techniques against pacers. As quoted by Sportskeeda, the 25-year-old explicitly stated that he can't tell people how to bat, and that is something everyone has to discover themselves.

Here's what Warner said

“We don’t really have too many discussions because you have to back your skills and I can’t tell people how to bat. You have to actually work it out. If you are going to face bowling, guys who bowl at 150 kmph, you need to have the technique and method to score, and if they are going to keep coming at you and they bowl into your ribcage, you have to find a way to score.”

Warner further added that batting against the short ball in the nets, might not be the best thing going forward.

The Australian opener is the leading run-getter for DC this season with 285 runs, with Patel being the second-best with 148.

The Capitals will be up against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
