'We Scrapped Our Way To It,' David Warner After DC's Maiden Win of the Season

Delhi Capitals skipper David Warner was a relieved man at the post-match presentation after his team huffed and puffed its way to its maiden win in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League.

After a string of five consecutive defeats, the Capitals finally broke their wretched run in front of their home fans on Thursday night against the Kolkata Knight Riders, but it didn't come without a real grind.

On a rain-affected pitch, the Delhi Capitals bowling attack came out all guns blazing, and even though a few lusty blows from Andre Russell at the backend lifted Kolkata to 127, it still felt that DC would have to bat unbelievably bad to lose this.

And, they almost did!

Skipper Warner (57 off 41) gave DC a decent start, but once he was dismissed, Delhi's familiar fragilities came to the fore as their batters had no clue what to do against KKR's spinners, including part-timer Nitish Rana.

Delhi finally scrapped home in the final over, but the mood in their camp was more of relief than happiness, which pretty much summed up their performance on the night, and their overall campaign.

Speaking to the host broadcaster after the match, Warner was pretty honest regarding the current state of his team.

"Finally. We scrapped our way to it. Over to Hyderabad. We are really proud of the bowling unit. We did exceptionally well to get wickets in the PP. We lost wickets in cluster. We are very honest to each other. We discussed about areas to improve upon. We played an Okay game."

Delhi will now lock horns with the SunRisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on April 24.
