The year 2025 has been fruitful for the former India captain, Rohit Sharma. Despite taking retirement from the Tests, Rohit had an eventful year in ODIs as he led from the front in the Champions Trophy and helped India achieve their second successive ICC trophy after the T20 World Cup triumph.
Despite his brilliance in the 50-overs format, Rohit’s place was questioned in the side, but the former skipper let his bat do the talking as he achieved several records, not only in the ODIs, but also in the IPL. Here is a list of all records broken by Rohit in 2025 across formats (ODIs, IPL).

4th captain to be adjudged the Player of the Match in ICC finals
He had a topsy-turvy Champions Trophy earlier this year, but Rohit came to life in the finals against New Zealand. India needed a tricky 252 to win the tournament, and Rohit played a blinder (76 off 83) and secured India’s Champions Trophy title. For his knock, the right-handed batter was awarded the Player of the Match and he became just the fourth captain to be adjudged the Player of the Match in an ICC finals.
2nd captain to win ICC titles in both ODI and T20I formats
Rohit led India to a historic second T20 World Cup title in 2024, and it was followed by the Champions Trophy win in March 2025. With that, he became just the second captain, after MS Dhoni, to win ICC titles in both ODI and T20I formats.
Becoming the 3rd Indian with 50 international tons
Rohit failed in the first ODI against Australia in October, but he responded with a fifty in the second ODI and a scintillating ton in a run-chase at SCG. With that century, he became just the third Indian after Sachin Tendulkar, and Virat Kohli to score 50 centuries at the international level.
Most ODI centuries in Australia
With his hundred at the SCG against Australia, Rohit Sharma surpassed Virat Kohli and Kumar Sangakkara to become the visiting batter with the most ODI centuries, Down Under. The trio had 5 centuries each in Australia, but Rohit surpassed Kohli and Sangakkara after his SCG ton.
Batter with most sixes in ODIs
After a brilliant series in Australia, Rohit continued his form in the home series against South Africa, and during the tour, he surpassed former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi to become the batter with the most sixes in ODI history. Rohit has 355 sixes, while Afridi had 351.

Becomes just the second batter to 7,000 IPL runs
Rohit Sharma had a stellar IPL 2025 campaign and in the tournament he achieved the feat of becoming just the second batter to attain the feat of scoring 7,000 runs in IPL. Kohli leads the charts with 8661 runs, while Rohit currently has 7046 runs in IPL.
2nd batter to hit 300-plus IPL sixes
Rohit became just the second batter to smash 300-plus sixes in IPL history. The current leader is Chris Gayle, who has smacked 357 sixes, while Rohit currently stands at 302 big hits.
