After Sikkim posted a modest 236 on the board in their encounter against Mumbai in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, Rohit Sharma showed his class with a blitzkrieg knock to flatten the opponents.

The 38-year-old came in to play the prestigious domestic tournament after seven long years and showed his class as one of the greatest batters in modern-day cricket.

Rohit Sharma smashes quick ton to lead Mumbai

The one-day match at Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium was graced by Rohit Sharma’s presence as he struck a mammoth 155-run knock while piling up his century roughly from 60 deliveries. 

The blitz followed after he came from a successful India vs South Africa tour, where he bagged a total of 146 runs from his 3 innings at an average of 48.67.

The trademark hitman blitz was showcased during Mumbai’s chase as Rohit Sharma came in to bat as an opener and bagged 155 runs from 94 balls at a strike rate of 164.89. He had 9 sixes and 18 boundaries to his name as he continued the onslaught after his opening partner Angkrish Raghuvanshi fell in the 20th over.

Mumbai pocket swift win against Sikkim

Musheer Ahmed Khan and Sarfaraz Khan saw an end to the game after Rohit was dismissed by Kranthi Kumar with less than 12 runs left to chase from over 120 deliveries. Nevertheless, Mumbai won the match by 8 wickets and with 19.3 overs left to bowl.

The light work made by Rohit helped him add up his 37th List A century, with him looking forward to the second game with Mumbai in Round 2 of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

From the Mumbai bowling unit, the skipper Shardul Thakur was the pick with 2 wickets to his name as Tushar Deshpande, Tanush Kotian, Shams Mulani and Musheer Ahmed Khan scalped one wicket each.
