Why is Jemimah Rodrigues not playing IND-W vs SL-W 4th T20I match?

After sealing the five-match India Women vs Sri Lanka Women T20I series 3–0, Jemimah Rodrigues was rested for the fourth match, as confirmed by captain Harmanpreet Kaur at the toss.

Notably, the fourth T20I is a dead rubber, with Sri Lanka playing for pride in Thiruvananthapuram after losing the first three matches. Jemimah Rodrigues was opted out of the clash due to illness.

Jemimah Rodrigues rested because of ill health

Speaking at the toss, Harmanpreet clarified that Jemimah was unwell, while Kranti Goud was also rested, with Harleen Deol and Arundhati Reddy returning to the squad. Harmanpreet added that the situation also allowed the team management to test more bench options.

“We were looking to bat only today. So happy about it. Jemi is not playing today because of illness. Kranti is resting today. Harleen is back, Arundhati is back. This is the ideal series for us, where we can test players and give them the ideal platform,” Kaur said at the toss.

Notably, India Women lost the toss as Sri Lanka Women chose to bowl first. Sri Lanka fielded a strong XI featuring Chamari Athapaththu, Hasini Perera, Harshitha Madavi, Nilakshi de Silva and Kaushani Nuthyangana.

Jemimah's form not of concern yet

To the unaware, Jemimah’s absence was not due to her hot and cold form. She scored a fluent 69 off 44 balls in the first T20I, followed it up with 26 off 15 balls at a strike rate of 173.33 in the second match, but managed only nine runs off 15 deliveries in the third T20I after being dismissed early by Kavisha Dilhari.
