'He's amazing'- AB de Villiers heaps praise on Babar Azam

Pakistan captain Babar Azam has been going through a torrid phase since the Asia Cup 2022. Statistically, the stylish right-handed batter has managed only eight runs in three outings in the ongoing T20 World Cup, inviting criticism for himself from all corners of the world.  

When most cricket fanatics have slammed Babar for his poor form, former South Africa legend AB de Villiers has backed the Pakistan skipper to overcome his lean patch. 

Speaking on his YouTube channel, De Villiers recalled how he was impressed by Babar's gorgeous stroke play during his initial days in international cricket. 

The ex-RCB legend also explained how Babar's addition has strengthened Pakistan's batting, giving it a much better shape than it once was. 

Here's what De Villiers commented on Babar

"Babar Azam is an amazing player. I watched him play for the first time, saying this boy can play. He is a fantastic addition to Pakistan's success, and it's great to see young generations taking ownership,

"The batting side of Pakistan has always been a problem; it was never solid enough, it always goes up and down, and I feel they are in a place of consistency because of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan."

Meanwhile, Pakistan have a slim chance of qualifying for the semifinal in the T20 World Cup. With only two points in their kitty, the Men in Green will lock horns with mighty South Africa in Sydney on Thursday.
