Suresh Raina joins Deccan Gladiators for Abu Dhabi T10 2022

In a significant development, legendary former India batter Suresh Raina is set to represent Deccan Gladiators in the upcoming season of the Abu Dhabi T10 league starting this month. In this process, Raina joins a lineup comprising the likes of Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran, Jason Roy, Taskin Ahmed, Odean Smith, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. 

The news was confirmed by the league's official Twitter handle on Tuesday. 


Earlier, Raina retired from all forms of the game to try his hands in T20 leagues around the world, and the T10 league seems to be his first venture in this regard. Hailed as one of India's finest-ever middle-order batters in white-ball cricket, Raina has 8640 runs to his name in 322 international appearances. He played an instrumental role in India's triumphant World Cup campaign in 2011 on home soil. 

Further, Raina has a plethora of experience in the shortest format, being the backbone of the Chennai Super Kings for a long period of time. Fondly regarded as Mr IPL, Raina has amassed 5528 runs in 200 innings at a healthy strike rate of 136.73 in the tournament. However, his IPL career is all but over with his participation in the T10 league. 

The sixth season of the Abu Dhabi T10 league begins on November 23. The Gladiators will play their first game against Team Abu Dhabi on the opening day.
