Yashasvi Jaiswal stunned a jam-packed Eden Gardens last evening, during Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) encounter against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Jaiswal struck a record-breaking knock of 98 runs, in pursuit of 151 runs, which helped Royals demolish Kolkata by nine wickets, and gain crucial two points.

The youngster during his knock also broke the record for the fastest IPL-fifty, which came in just 13 balls, one shy of Yuvraj Singh's T20I record of 12-ball 50. Former India player and coach Ravi Shastri speaking after the match urged selectors to pick Jaiswal for India's white-ball setup going forward, especially T20Is.

Even former India skipper Virat Kohli lauded Jaiswal for his blistering knock last evening on Instagram.

Speaking to Star Sports, Shastri praised Jaiswal's approach towards batting, and also his communication skills.

Here's what Shastri said

"(Yashasvi) Jaiswal continues to wow everybody who watches him. In some of his shots through the off-side, the head is absolutely still and the footwork is impeccable. For someone who is 21 years old, he has come up the hard way. Immediately (How soon will he get an India call-up?). The selectors would love seeing what they are seeing. They would love to see such a talent after a long wait, someone who is so good across all formats."

The 21-year-old has slammed 575 runs in IPL 2023 and is the first Indian batter to cross the 500-run mark this season.

Several former international players like Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina, and Brett Lee have expressed similar views to that of Shastri.
