Faf du Plessis Notches Prestigious T20 Record; Goes Past AB de Villiers
Playing just as a pure batter for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Faf du Plessis is setting examples of dedication and love for the game. Struggling with a rib injury, the 39-year-old batter is just batting like a dream and is in the form of his life. With his knock of 62 runs against Rajasthan Royals, Du Plessis completed 9000 runs in T20 cricket, becoming the fastest South African to do so.
On Sunday, the stylish right-hander became the second Proteas and 17th overall batter to 9000 runs in the shortest format.
After making his T20 debut in 2007, the former South African captain has played worldwide and won almost every accolade present. In 317 innings thus far, Du Plessis has amassed 9011 runs, averaging 31.95 with a strike rate of 133.08, smacking 58 fifties and five hundreds.
Meanwhile in the IPL, the South African has just played for Chennai and Bangalore, playing 123 matches to accumulate 3808 runs in the tournament, with an average of 36.26 and his strike rate being 133.56.
Returning to the RCB versus RR match, the former finished their innings at 189 runs, thanks to Glenn Maxwell's 77 off 44 balls and Du Plessis' 39-ball 62. Although RCB were going strong when the duo were batting, but runs dried up in the last four overs, with the home team scoring just 32 off the last 24 balls.
