'David Getting Towards End of His Career,' Says Shaun Tait

Delhi Capitals (DC) lost their fourth successive match-in-a-row in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) after their narrow last-ball defeat against Mumbai Indians (MI) last evening in New Delhi. Led by David Warner, the Delhi franchise has struggled to score big totals despite having an explosive batting line-up.

Still, Warner is the second-highest run-getter this season with 206 runs, which includes three fiftie. However, all of his half-century scores have been the slowest, inviting criticism from all quarters.

Former Australian teammate and fast bowler Shaun Tait has backed Warner to get back into his aggressive self.

As quoted by West Australian, Tait explained that Warner's slow strike rate is being accepted because other batters have failed miserably.

Here's what Tait said

"You can quite clearly see on his face and his reactions after shots or missed shots, that he's pretty frustrated as well. The only reason that's acceptable is because other guys around him have been pretty poor as well. Because he's such a great player, he manages to score and lead the runs.

"With David getting towards the end of his career, maybe that's the thing. With such a great player, a legend of the game, you expect him to come out of that and go back to something we're used to."

During his knock of 51 against Mumbai, Warner went past 600 fours in the IPL. Overall in 166 IPL matches, the 36-year-old has scored 6,090 runs with four tons and 58 fifties.

The Capitals will next go up against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 15 at Chinnaswamy Stadium.
