The much-awaited 'The Ashes 2023' is just months away, and both the England and Australian teams have started their preparations for the coveted urn. England, who last won the Ashes back in 2015, will be under Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes hoping to re-write history.

The duo have won 10 out of their last 12 Tests and have hyped the upcoming five-Test series that commences June 16.

Stokes, who is currently participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has revealed that England have requested "fast, flat" tracks for the Ashes series against Australia.

McCullum's new 'BazBall' approach has been the talking point around the cricketing world, which will be put under the pump when they go up against a potent Australian attack this summer.

Speaking to SKY SPORTS, Stokes also revealed that he has his playing XI in mind for the first Test at Edgbaston ready.

Here's what Stokes said

"We've been very clear, especially with the ground staff around England, about what type of wickets we want. And they've been very responsive to us which has been good. We want fast, flat wickets. We want to go out there and score quickly. It brings their [Australia's] guys in: if they've got fast wickets to bowl on then they'll be happy with that as well."

The CSK player expressed his desire to have as many as eight fast bowlers to pick from for the XI, with Mark Wood, Jofra Archer, and Olly Stone being his preferred ones.

Stokes has already missed one match for CSK, after facing discomfort in his foot.
