Aiden Markram, the South African cricketer is a clutch player and the batter once again stood tall in pressure situation during the 4th innings chase Vs Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. In a tricky chase of 282, the Proteas team lost Ryan Rickelton early, but this is where Markram showed his class.

He batted with near perfection and slammed a sensational ton while chasing to put his team on the brink of a famous win in the finals. Ahead of Day 4, the Proteas team needed 69 more runs to win and Markram stood tall alongside captain Temba Bavuma as the team is getting closer to etch their name in history books.

If the South African team goes onto beat Australia on Day 4, they will capture their second-ever ICC title at the senior level. However, not many people know that Markram once led the Rainbow nation to an Under-19 World title during the 2014 edition.

When captain Markram led from the front to guide Proteas to glory

The South African team, led by Markram were outstanding in the Under-19 World Cup tournament as his side reached the finale to face-off against Pakistan. On a nervous afternoon, Pakistan batted first and Corbin Bosch, the fiery pacer ran riot as he dismantled the Pakistan side with utmost ease.

He grabbed 4 for 15 as the Men in Green got bundled out for a mere 131. The wicket had something for the pacers and Markram, while opening the batting made sure that the team crossed the finishing line. The Proteas lost two early wickets but the right-handed batter played with grit and determination as he remained unbeaten at 66 off 125 and guided his team to a historic win.

Not only in the finale, but Aiden Markram also performed throughout the tournament as he was adjudged the Player of the Competition for scoring 370 runs.
